Assume that all members of a dominant group are guilty.

Discussion:

Equity sees no one as an individual, but as simply an instantiation of the groups we belong to. 

This dehumanizing approach means when one member of a dominant group commits a crime, then every member of the group is guilty. On the other hand, if a member of a minoritized group commits a crime, they are assumed not to be guilty.

For example, if one woman shoots and kills her husband we give her and her group the benefit of the doubt and assume she was defending herself. If one man shoots and kills his wife we assume he is guilty and say that all men are violent. It should go without saying that this is a twisted idea that will only result in disaster.

Liberalism focuses on the value of the individual and that each of us can make choices. If we make the wrong ones and harm others, we should feel guilty about that and do what we can to make things right. We are never responsible for what other people do, because we have no control over that.
