Complicity

Common meaning:

When an individual has been actively involved with the illegal activity of others.

Hidden meaning of the Equity religion:

Complicity is when you benefit from the actions taken by members of your oppressive group even when you did not take any action.

Discussion:

The Equityists believe that you can be held to be complicit and guilty even when you did not do anything as an individual. It is assumed that you have benefited from actions taken by members of your oppressive group.

Unlike Liberalism, which considers people to have value both at the lowest level of individuality and the highest level of common humanity, the religion of Equity values only groups. It doesn’t ask if we are making things better for everyone or if they are better for an individual, but is the group better off. This myopic focus on groups causes the religion of Equity to determine good and evil solely from that perspective.

In practice, this allows it to consider individuals guilty of crimes based only on group membership. If right-handed people are considered dominant over left-handed people and oppress them, then any criminal actions taken by one right-handed person means that all right-handed people are guilty. It is guilt by group association and your membership in the oppressor group is more than enough to label you as evil.

History is filled with the violence that occurs when we think like this.
