Emotional Labor

Common meaning:

Dealing with your own emotions.

Hidden meaning of the Equity religion:

Talking about oppression, you, or more commonly your group, has experienced, is taking an emotional toll and causing trauma.

Discussion:

The Equity faithful say that talking about the oppression your group has experienced is emotional labor. Requiring people to explain how they have been harmed causes them to experience trauma.

Equityists believe that it is committing exploitation to expect people that have been hurt to explain how they have been hurt. This causes trauma, because forcing them to relive the experience takes an emotional toll on them. No person who is part of an oppressed group should ever be asked about how they have been harmed, and people in the oppressive group should be constantly apologizing for these acts that cannot be spoken out loud.

So, people in dominant groups are wrong for asking people in minoritized groups what the problem is and they are wrong for not apologizing for these very problems that they are not allowed to ask about.

Talk about a complete breakdown in logic.
