Equity teaches that the only reason we are seeing a degradation of the environment is because of the greed of capitalists who overproduce goods that are unnecessary.

According to Equityist thinking, the only reason that the environment has been degraded is because of the Capitalist West. They believe that tribes and nations lived in harmony with nature before the exploitative Europeans showed up. It is the fault of over-production by greedy capitalists that has caused the environmental disaster we face today.

It is a lovely story that primitive tribes lived in harmony with nature, but it is simply not true. Everywhere we have ever gone as humans, we have killed each other, drastically altered the natural world, and caused environmental destruction.

Capitalism and technology did increase our ability to significantly damage the environment, but it will also get us out of the crisis if we let it.
