Equity believers consider genocide to be occuring when any people or traditions of a marginalized culture are being harmed or lost.

Equity shows little concern when members of dominant groups are being harmed or even killed, but it will react quickly if any member of a marginalized culture is being harmed by Western progress. For example, when new technology arises that is able to help deaf people hear, it’s considered by the Equityists to be genocide. The dominant culture of ableism is killing the identity of deaf disabled people.

Back in the real world, most sane, non-Equity people will agree that it is better to hear than not to hear. I expect that most people who are deaf would jump at the chance to be able to hear, but for all their talk about helping the oppressed, this is not something the religious Equityists want to see happen.
