Discussion:

The Equityists believe that global trade satisfies the demands of Western consumer societies by creating wasteful luxuries. They believe we would all be better off if we each just created our own goods.

Modern economics has proven that if everybody produces things they are most suited for, then everybody will benefit. Equity believes the abundance that occurs because of these economic efficiencies only winds up polluting the planet and creating wasteful luxuries that harm the oppressed people who make them.  

It’s true there are some luxury items, however so many things, like food, shelter, education and even travel, are not just luxuries, but are important and allow us to thrive.

It is important to notice that whenever the Equityists talk about issues, they always compare what is happening to a perfect future that does not exist, instead of to the gritty reality of the present that requires compromise and negotiation.

The Equityists clearly don’t want people to have nice things.
