Common meaning:
As humans age, it is natural for them to view things from their past with nostalgia.
Hidden meaning of the Equity religion:
Phrase said by someone from a dominant group when they want to go back to when bigotry was allowed.
Discussion:
From the Equityist perspective, any person who remarks that they want to go back to the good old days is speaking code for wanting to go back to when they were allowed to be bigoted.
As we get older all of us reminisce about the past. We think about where we went to school and who our friends were. We may remember people who have died and the relationships that we’ve lost. It makes us nostalgic. That’s not wrong, but Equity wants to pretend that nostalgia is wrong; it wants to pretend that it’s a terrible thing and is always bigotry.
It may be true that some people may say the phrase “good old days” with the desire to go back to a time when they could be bigoted against people in other races, but for most people that is not what this phrase is all about.
Once again, the Equityists are assuming that oppression is the only thing that exists and is always occurring, but that is just not true.
