Common meaning:

The social and psychological qualities that define humankind and are created by both biological and sociological elements.

Hidden meaning of the Equity religion: 

The qualities that define what it is to be human are all a result of social interaction and not biology.

Discussion:

Equity declares that we do not have a fundamental human nature. The way we behave toward others is never a result of brain structures or hormone levels, but only as a result of socialization.

It can be difficult for many non-believers in the West to comprehend the fact that the Equityists only believe in the existence of groups and oppression. 

I have seen very smart, non-believing teachers try and figure out a way to bring the religion of Equity and the reality of their discipline together, but without success. There is no way to square this religion with anything in the natural world. For true Equity believers, biology does not exist.

All of this results in the Equityists truly believing that not only is human nature completely socially constructed, but that what we believe as a society actually changes the physical world.

This is all crazy I know, but remember we are talking about a radical virus of a religion.
