A social construction created by white people with the intent to marginalize people of colour.

Discussion:

Equity doctrine states that the white Western world justified its domination of other cultures by introducing the concept of racial superiority. Since non-white people were inferior to white people, it was acceptable to enslave them and profit from their work.

Back in the real world, humans have been classifying people from other cultures and races as inferior for as long as humans have been around. The concept of race was not some new thing that was invented by white people but has been part of the way that humans have justified the treatment of enemy tribes for a long long time.

Western liberalism promoted the idea that we should not view others as members of racial groups because this leads us to thinking about others in those terms and ultimately will result in racism.

Equity declares that we need to go back to the past and view people primarily as members of racial groups. This has already resulted in racist acts toward particular groups and it will only get worse.

Race is not a social construct that we should focus on.
