Common meaning:
The primary ways knowledge can be acquired are through intuition, authority, rationalism, empiricism and the scientific method.
Hidden meaning of the Equity religion:
Knowledge is limited to what groups believe and only people who are members of victim groups know anything.
Discussion:
The Equityists believe that humans are entirely social beings and the only way we learn and understand things is through social constructs. Since the knowledge of dominant groups is tainted, we must turn to minoritized groups as the only way we can really know anything.
Equity gives lip service to knowing things using reason, experimentation and logic, but when you pull back the curtain, you find there is only one way. The person who is giving the knowledge must be a member of an oppressed group.
Different ways of knowing really means we need to ignore any knowledge that comes from dominant groups and prioritize knowledge that is put forward by members of minoritized groups.
It is dangerous to care more about who is speaking, rather than what they are saying.
