Capitalist

Common meaning:

A person who invests in businesses that create products and services that benefit us all.

Hidden meaning of the Equity religion:

A leech who steals value from the workers and makes themselves rich.

Discussion:

Equity believes that capitalists have nothing to offer society and are only in business to take from others and oppress them.

This idea of capitalist oppressors came from Rousseau but was further clarified by Karl Marx who believed that only human labor generated wealth and the goal of the capitalists was to steal as much of the workers’ produced value as they could get away with.

The first problem with this type of thinking is it pretends that those who run businesses provide no value and anyone can do what they do. The second issue is many capitalists want to make the world a better place and provide value for others. Elon Musk, for example, could have long ago retired and lived on his income, but instead he is determined to make this world a better place.

Many Equityists would reply that the problem is how much they get paid compared to the workers, but the levels of risk are not compatible. If a company goes under, a worker typically loses little, but the investors can lose everything. Let’s be honest, what is really going on here is jealousy. Equity is a religion that panders in jealousy and that never ends well.
